Quests and lessons
Two quests take you from the beach to the mainland; five teachers each have a lesson that lasts; the road south is next.
Castaway's Training
Guru will teach you to feed yourself, fight and build a boat before you leave Perhentian Island. Start: talk to Guru.
- Speak to Guru. He gives you a staff.
- Get a net from Mak Long Esah.
- Net and cook 2 mackerel.
- Report back to Guru.
- Hit the training post 10 times, and defeat 2 crabs.
- Report back to Guru.
- Get a hatchet from Pak Mat.
- Build a boat at the boatyard: 6 × timber + 3 × rope, Woodwork 3.
- Launch the boat at the boatyard.
Reward: a staff, and the way across to the mainland.
Guru sends you to Mak Long Esah for a net and to Pak Mat for a hatchet. Both are free, and both steps tick themselves off if you already have the tool. The training can be finished without spending a ringgit.

- Sail to Kuala Besut.
- Meet the harbourmaster. He gives you RM 5.
- Sell some of your catch at Kak Yah's shop.
- Buy something to wear and put it on.
- Report back to the harbourmaster.
Reward: RM 20 and a packet of nasi lemak (or RM 3 more if your pack is full).
